Artist - Debbie Adams

This months artwork 'Autumn Wonder', painted by the artist Debbie Adams.

Born in 1960. I am primarily a self-taught artist. I began drawing at an early age but later my career took a different path. Through the years my love of art has always remained an important part of my life. It was nearly 35 years later that I decided to pursue my dream of becoming an artist. But, it was a rough start for I didn’t know where to begin so I just doodled mostly, stick people as I recall. Pretty bad I know. It got better over time as I searched for help online and found websites and blogs that explained how to draw. So with the best of my understanding I would apply the principles taught the best I could. To my surprise I realized over time that not only was I drawing, I had actually developed my own technique. I finally gave into the notion that I actually was an artist after all.
At the end of 2008 Derwent wrote to me to commission two drawing from me for the Paperworld exhibition in Frankfurt, Germany for Jan.2009, that they needed these drawing to be created with their charcoal and graphite products to demonstrate the use of their products, they also had very definite ideas as to what they wanted me to draw for each piece and with which product. I agreed to their request. I drew them a lighthousewinter scene. After the exhibition they decided to use the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse drawing to use on the packaging of their “6 pack of Natural Graphite Sticks” , and listed me as one of Derwent’s artists. I felt so honored, and actually proud of my progress as an artist. It was my little piece of recognition in the world as an artist. It was my special day.

Phew!! Just in time!!

Melinda Johns - Double Trouble

HI,

I loved the painting this month, it looks so
peaceful, it reminded me of a photograph of
my daughter and fiance sleeping together.
This picture didn't need much journalling
as it says all in the picture...

I have used autumn colours and there is a
tree on the page, I couldn't fit in a cloud....

Sorry about the poor quality photo, I run
out of day light today to get them
photographed.

Woohoo!! A Fantastic!! entry today from another newbie.....

Leonie Neal-Dawson - Just Chillin'

Hi Shazza,

Here’s my take on the April Challenge. This is my first attempt at an ARTastic inspiration.
I took my inspiration from the beautiful colours in the Adam’s Painting, I just love vibrant autumn colours!
And this Prima range was a perfect match for the expanse of blue sky and water surrounded
by those rich reds/yellows and browns.

I added a chipboard tree and clouds as per the added criteria and doodled on the chipboard in white pen.
Hope you LikeJ

Cheers,
Leonie Neal-Dawson.

Roxanne McCleary - So Happy To Have You

Hi, Shazza, here is my entry for this month's challenge!  I used the April '11 kit from Scrap-tures, a Canadian-based kit club and store, to make the majority of this page, and added some white cardstock and distress inks that weren't in the kit.  The patterned papers, stamps, brads and stickers are all from My Mind's Eye, and the yellow cardstock for the sun is Bazzill.  I used a lot of Perfect Pearls (which also came in the kit) for all that beautiful shine.  Hope you like it!

Sincerely,
Roxanne McCleary

Julie Short - Flat out Across the Nullabor

Hello Shazza,
My layout is inspired by my photos of a trip we took across the Nullarbor. This journey was a relentless 3 day drive from sun up to sunset.
It was a very sad time but we still could wonder at the incredible beauty of our wide brown land which was in fact a rare time, of green.
You will see clouds, a tree and the red, brown, ochre colours of Central Australia.

Thanking you for your lovely challenge.
Julie Short

Another great page today from......

Nicole - Autumn

Hi Shazza!

The painting (autumn!) made me think of the pictures I took from our hike in July (summer!) which I still hadn't scrapped (spring!).

I made a pocket in the back to keep my journaling in, and made a tab to pull the journaling out. I printed the journaling from my blog, attached the tab, and added 51 with letter stickers (the hike number in the book).  I didn't get to use any of the pictures that had clouds, but I got the trees and brown in there.

If you want to see how I altered the patterned paper, you can visit my blog: http://paperbackpirate.blogspot.com/

It's been too long!  I'm glad I finally had some time to stop lurking and scrapbook!

XOXO
Nicole

Hey Nicole! Welcome back! I love the hiking photos you took and got a chance to scrap!
Its great that you journalled your # 51 hiking adventure! I love the background..is it pp or did you add the arty earthy cards to cardstock? Great page! - Cheers Shazza

me with my son lazying around at Port Arthur,
TAS. It was a great holiday, and I just love

Hi Mazlina!
What a great Autumn page from you! Love the
tree you used on your page and great photo
of you laying on the grass. Great lot of
embellies you have used. I especially love
the butterfly trailing off in front of the clouds.
A fab page - Well done!! Cheers Shazza
